Marriage – Staying Strong While “Staying Home” Part 2

Today will feature CREATIVE AT HOME DATE NIGHTS to keep your love alive and the spark ignited.

Date Nights: – Can’t go out?-  Enjoy a romantic evening at home.  Set the mood, connect, and ignite the spark by being creative and planning ahead.

If you have kids, put them to bed early and enjoy a late evening date.  Teens in the house?  – Let them enjoy videogames/YouTube and all the room time they want.  Just feed them first so you aren’t interrupted. Then warn them: “We are having a date night –no interruptions unless there is blood.”

During your time together, consider sharing how you are each doing right now. -Emotional intimacy-  (what women need/require most) leads to physical intimacy (what men need/require most).

At-Home Date Night Suggestions:

1. -Living Room Bistro: –  Set up a card table in your living room with a table cloth, candles, and a setting for two (or use the coffee table).  Create ambiance with your favorite romantic playlist.  Add candles around the room.  – Dim the lights.  If you have a fireplace, light it.  -Make dinner together, even if it’s just finger foods.

2.  -Dance Club: Need to kick it up a notch? –  Change out of your cozies and into something a little more “visually pleasing.” – (Guys are visual – after all!)-   Choose the room of your house with the best space/aka, “dance floor.” – Dim the lights, add candles, then blast your party playlist. – Warning… – this may cause sweat, and you’ll end up in the shower.

3.  -Watch the Sunset: –  Go on a long walk or hike together, then watch the sunset. – Bring a backpack with your favorite treats and beverages.

4.  -Play Games for Favors: –  Turn a night of games into romance with this twist. –  Play traditional board games, corn-hole, ping- pong… whatever you have, then set up in advance what “favors” the winner will receive. – In this game night, – you both win.

5.  -Carpet Picnic: –  Set a blanket out across your floor, open your windows, and let the sunshine and breeze in.  – Create a picnic lunch or dinner, play cards, keep the conversation light, and enjoy some laughter.

6.  -Theme Night: –  Travel ban? Transport you and your spouse to another land with food, music, and romance. – Create an Italian experience with a red table cloth, Italian food of your choice, candles (of course), and music. Go to Spotify for some Andre Bocelli, or another amazing Italian opera singer to set the mood.

Do you prefer a Mexican Riviera getaway?  – Follow the same idea by preparing Mexican cuisine and adding related ambiance, music, and clothing if possible.

7.  -A Bubble Bath for Two: –  If your man doesn’t think he’d like a bubble bath, just remind him that you’ll be in there.  😉 – Set the mood with a bottle of bubbly, candles, an easy-listening playlist. – Dim the lights or shut them off entirely.  – Relax, breathe, caress, and enjoy an in- home spa experience.

8.  -Couples Massage: –  Take turns giving a relaxing massage or choose one weekend to pamper your husband. – The next weekend he can pamper you. – Not sure how to give a massage? All you need to know: https://www.thedatingdivas.com/sensual-massage/  Warm up the lotion, mix in coconut oil, and add an essential oil for a smooth, sensual touch. Dim the lights and add scented eucalyptus candles to create calm and peace. – Find a playlist with ocean waves, nature, or simply background instrumentals. Check out this relaxing music with nature sounds, accompanied by a – three-hour film of beauty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrddaP6ml1M

 9. -Couples Devotion: –  Set aside one time a week to go through a devotion together, spending quality time focusing on strengthening your relationship. – (Closer Devotions to Draw Couples Together by Jim & Cathy Burns) https://leannseale.com/resources/

10.  -Romance under the Stars: –  Look up at the stars in your own yard, sit around your fire pit – in chairs with cozy blankets or lay a blanket across the grass. Share some wine & chocolate, dream, wish out loud – feel young and free.

Enjoy connecting with your spouse and creating memories!
