Do you identify yourself based on the hats you wear: wife, mom, friend, or daughter?, Or do you find your identity more closely connected to a work title?
As women, we can feel inadequate or unworthy at times. Maybe right now you just feel tired or overwhelmed, unsettled or scared?
Maybe you are taking on the new role of schooling your kids, and you don’t feel cut out for this task. That’s why you had them in private or public school!
Maybe you just jumped off the crazy “on-the-go treadmill” and now you don’t know who you are or what to do with your day?
How does God see your identity?
There is only one you: knit together, uniquely created, made for a purpose, and a plan. You are known and loved by God.
God has prepared this time in history for you to be here on earth. You matter. You make a difference in your circles of influence.
How do you begin believing this, and gain stability and confidence? Learn to stand on truth. In the Word of God, you’ll find what He says about who you are.
I have redemption and forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7), I am chosen (John 15:16), I am no longer a slave to sin (Romans 6:6), I am a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20), I am created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), I was formed before birth, known and set apart (Jeremiah 1:5), I am more than a conqueror through him who loves me (Romans 8:37), I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), for when I am weak, then I am strong (2 Corinthians 12:1), in Christ I am a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and I am clothed in a robe of righteousness (Isaiah 61:10).
Does God’s Word give you peace and hope in how He sees you?
Music artist and Christian, Lauren Daigle wrote the song, “You Say” played often on pop radio and Christian stations and remaining on Billboards Top 100 for over 45 weeks. She wrote her beautiful ballad to remind herself of what God says of her. Her lyrics resonate with the masses, proving the desire for God’s love and assurance in each of us. Remind yourself daily of who Christ says you are. When the world rocks you, be reminded of truth. Stand firm as you allow God to reveal your identity and His truth to permeate your soul. You are a child of God – a daughter of the King.
Challenge: Look up Scripture about who you are in Christ. Read them each day this week.
Questions: Do you identify who you are by the hats you wear, the things you’ve accomplished, or the way God sees you? Which Scripture made your heart leap? Please share – I’d love to hear your thoughts.
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…” (John 1:12).
